MENÙ IT ・EN 2025 Harvest Report The 2025 vintage was characterized by a more abundant rainfall regime compared to the previous year, with precipitation concentrated mainly during the winter months of February and March. This distribution of rainfall provided the vines with the water reserves necessary for vigorous vegetative growth, while temperatures, although slightly above the seasonal average, never reached excessive peaks. The wide temperature fluctuations between day and night protected the vineyards from heat stress, promoting balanced and gradual ripening. The presence of water in the soil boosted the vegetative growth of the vines, which showed optimal health conditions and luxuriant development from the earliest phenological stages. The crucial phases of flowering and fruit set proceeded in the best possible way, ensuring the regular progression of the vegetative cycle and laying the foundations for quality production. Careful vineyard management enabled the achievement of optimal vegetative-productive balance. Particular attention was paid to monitoring grape ripeness and selecting the ideal moments for harvesting each variety, a fundamental aspect for preserving organoleptic characteristics and ensuring the expression of terroir. From a phytosanitary perspective, the vintage presented no significant issues, with the exception of some limited plots affected for the first time by leafhoppers. The harvested grapes were healthy and achieved optimal aromatic and phenolic maturity. The grapes reached full maturity with sugar levels that were not excessively high, a characteristic that will result in wines with lower alcohol content compared to the average of recent vintages, promising products characterized by greater harmony and elegance. Conditions were particularly favorable for white grape varieties, especially Catarratto, Zibibbo, and Grillo, which showed excellent quality characteristics. Red grapes also recorded optimal yields. The only significant problem encountered remains the growing shortage of labor, an increasingly pressing issue in the wine sector that requires structural solutions and a rethinking of the industry’s working dynamics. At the same time, considering the ongoing climate changes, there is an emerging need to reflect on the growing difficulties in managing vine diseases using exclusively organic products, and to evaluate at the legislative level a greater approach to integrated pest management, a strategy that could offer more effective and sustainable solutions.
