Among certain “savages” (stateless societies), the chief must prove his mastery over words: no silence. At the same time, the chief’s word is not uttered to be heard – no one pays attention to the chief’s word, or rather, they feign inattention; and the chief, in fact, says nothing, since he repeats the celebration of traditional norms of life. What question from primitive society does this empty word emanating from the apparent place of power answer? Empty, the chief’s discourse is such precisely because it is separated from power – the place of power is society itself. The chief must move in the element of the word, that is, the opposite of violence. The chief’s duty of speech, this continuous flow of an empty word (not empty in the traditional sense of transmission) that he owes to the tribe, is the infinite debt, the guarantee that forbids the man of words from becoming a man of power.

Therefore, what follows are my words.
I am not an oenologist and I don’t know chemistry, nor am I an agronomist, I have no technical skills; I have developed the senses, the five that categorize material reality and a sixth one that often intercepts, absorbing them, the emotional vibrations of my travel companions, whether they have been with me from the beginning, or present starting from stations after the first, or no longer present because they’ve already gotten off, already home…
Through others and by means of them my modest abilities and my limited sensitivity expand, allowing me to see and feel things that would otherwise remain foreign to me.
It is thanks to interferences, excesses, drifts, syntheses between irreconcilables that creativity restores to truth its primacy over ideologies, composed and complete but stale and sterile. Individual happiness, on the other hand, can only be aspired to on condition of respecting the Delphic Apollo’s warning.
Individuality as a successful process of individuation, precisely, is the path that, allowing everyone to become what they have always been, brings back, in a conscious manner, to the completeness of one’s origins. In short, one never escapes from oneself, from what we could be, except at the price of eternal unhappiness.
AV01 – Catarratto di Alcamo – is precisely the narrative tool of a collective individuation journey, that of a composite and varied team, which after a very long odyssey, returns to its “stony” origins.
In these 20 years we have suffered the lures of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet and even Merlot, we were kidnapped by the same promises that kept Ulysses in Ogygia or at Aeaea, we risked being, we too, transformed into pigs, being only emulators and therefore no one, we lived in anonymity, we betrayed our fathers, ourselves, renouncing the only possible inheritance.
We risked yes, but we didn’t end up on the rocks.
Interior research, listening to the spiritus loci, our finite and transitory individuality, as well as among our traditions, sedimented collective skills, have allowed us to produce a wine that could satisfy our own and others’ need for authenticity, uniqueness and exclusivity.
Our work is dedicated to those who wish to experience convivial moments, like sharing a meal and a glass of wine, that are not exhausted in the very moment they are lived, but that are symbolic excess and possibility of individual recovery, through absolute rarities, of collective treasures.
The winemaking technique is the result of modern knowledge contextualized in a precise geographical and therefore ampelographic area, the hills of Alcamo and Catarratto, that grape as common as it is exceptional.
Cellar activities rather than adding, maintain, enhance, pass through the renunciation of the superfluous: yeasts, activators, nitrogen nutrients, and oblige themselves to find in the few resources of the raw material worked, the skins, the stems, the pulp, the juice, all the components useful to a regulated process never left to chance.
It is precisely the lack of recourse to elements or aids external to the grape and must other than temperature conditioning during fermentation that has made this wine complete in itself and absolutely successful in its harmonic combination of taste sensations and marvelous endowments of overwhelming but composed aromaticity, unusual but at the same time familiar.
To the juice of the matter, fermented juice, a name was given, a pure denotation, and a garment, a first visual representation of what it was deemed should manifest of itself at first sight, and then a multiple paternity began to emerge, an identity in the making, an apparent discontinuity with respect to a family of origin, Rallo, unaccustomed to such an extreme, almost revolutionary productive style.
AV01 appeared as the hippie son of a bourgeois family, foreign both to the world of belonging and to that of adherence and therefore unwelcome to both the first and the second. This is the destiny of all revolutionaries, outside the context of origin and new for what will come, precisely because it must still happen and fortunately the future lasts a long time… (L. What “world” then could this wine mark, what horizons of meaning could it open?
Those of a sociocultural context in perpetual relation between subjects, based on individual identities that through a work of consciously dialectical recovery and reconstruction of one’s own self, can authentically be themselves.
This work of re-appropriation has been both individual and collective, it has involved everyone in the cellar, it has not been a perfunctory exercise, it has dug, destabilized, weakened, then strengthened, it has been a deconstructing training, an attempt to overcome the moment, fashion, immediate demands to return to proposing something that had real value that invited everyone to stop before a novelty, one’s own birth.
