LUCIDO
the Catarratto that celebrates light, land and transformation
Lucido
CATARRATTO
Made from Catarratto grapes, Lucido is born to tell the most immediate and sun-drenched soul of this ancient cultivar. A fresh, easy-drinking wine that expresses with crystalline purity the typical organoleptic qualities of Catarratto: floral fragrance, citrusy vibrancy, spontaneous drinkability. The Rallo single-varietal family is enriched with a new and luminous interpretation of the grape variety to which the estate has always dedicated its most authentic and passionate research.

In the beating heart of western Sicily
Its origins lie among the sun-soaked hills of Pattipiccolo in Alcamo, in the beating heart of western Sicily, where viticultural culture and the farming practices connected to it have been handed down through generations across more than three centuries of family dedication. A significant portion of our historic vineyards is devoted to the cultivation of this native cultivar — not merely an ampelographic heritage, but the very identity of our territory.
The constant and rigorous experimentation we carry out both in the vineyard and in the cellar demonstrates year after year that this variety, too often underestimated or confined to secondary roles, possesses instead unexplored and untapped potential. It is for this reason that today four wines from our family give voice and expression to this extraordinary grape. If Beleda is the Catarratto that refines and layers itself over time, building complexity through ageing, and AV01 the one that reveals itself in its most natural and unmediated essence, without added sulphites, then Lucido is the Catarratto of hard-won luminosity, of simplicity as the highest form of elegance, of the everyday gesture transformed into a conscious ritual. It is the wine of immediate joy, the one that accompanies the most authentic moments of Mediterranean conviviality.
A significant detail: Lucido is also the official name attributed to Catarratto since November 2018 — an institutional recognition that seals the deep bond between this wine and the authentic identity of the grape.
The visual identity of Lucido is born from a heartfelt tribute to the Alcamese master of minimalism, Turi Simeti (1929–2021), who throughout his life explored with his celebrated extroflexed canvases the subtle and profound dialogue between form, light and surface, transforming painting into a three-dimensional experience.
The label features five pure ovals: three immediately visible, two perceptible only from particular angles thanks to a refined dry embossing that creates tactile depth. These are essential, simple, immediate forms — dear to the master and his universal language — that shift in perception yet remain unchanged in substance, much like the Catarratto berry, the only one in the vineyard that changes noticeably during ripening until it becomes almost transparent, lucid indeed, reflecting the Sicilian light.
Light, the absolute protagonist
Light becomes the absolute protagonist through refined artisanal techniques: glossy relief screen-printing that captures and reflects the rays, layered Pantone colours that play with reflections and shift according to the angle of observation, creating a dynamic and ever-changing visual experience.
The label
Touching the label becomes an integral part of the sensory experience: the fine coupled and hammered paper evokes the grainy texture of Alcamo’s clay soil, conveying authentic tactility and sculptural materiality. It is an invitation to slow down, to perceive with all the senses.
The name of the wine is printed in the warm, enveloping brown of the earth — the institutional colour that identifies Alcamo for Rallo and represents our territorial roots. The hill, a distinctive and recurring element across our entire range of labels, here shrinks and transforms, taking on the more sinuous, soft and feminine shape of a gently undulating natural relief, as if wishing to enter into dialogue with the hilly landscape from which the wine is born, merging with it.
Every detail — from the warm palette to the textured surface — brings us back to the tangible reality of its origins: the sun-kissed vineyard, the generous soil of Alcamo, the patient and skilled work that, through gestures both ancient and ever new, transforms grapes into wine, matter into emotion.
