Rallo Discover, Mosella 22-25 novembre 2024

Once upon a time there was a winding river, flowing through the bed of a valley with very steep slopes on top of which stood marvelous castles surrounded by vineyards. Once upon a time there was the Moselle in its most fascinating and history-rich stretch, the German one, where one of the most interesting wine regions in the world lies.

And then… and then there was us…!

#RalloDiscover is a project born from collaboration with a dear friend of ours, Francesco Pensovecchio, as well as an impeccable guide on the journey just concluded, which saw us as protagonists discovering a marvelous territory devoted mainly to the production of white wines.

It was fantastic to discover how the sunlight we are accustomed to is exploited to the maximum elsewhere, thanks to the steep slopes, the exposure of the vineyards and the river that reflects it. It is the vineyards that make this landscape unique in the world: the traditional training system of this area, the “Moselpfahlerziehung”, employed since the 1st century by the Romans, requires that each vine be fixed to a single stake and that the two main canes be bent and tied together, sometimes even forming a heart. The soil consists mainly of slate and gives mineral notes on the palate and a very pronounced acidity.

#RalloDiscover is a format aimed at younger people that we will certainly repeat next year, four days of discoveries and exchange in search of unique territories.
