A New Impetus for Native Grapes

Regnante is born from the selection of the finest Perricone grapes cultivated on the hills of Pattipiccolo in Alcamo, where the Mediterranean microclimate and clay soils create the ideal conditions for the most authentic expression of this native variety. After a year of careful aging in wood, a red wine emerges with remarkable structure and refined elegance, marked by rare and distinctive aromatic qualities that make it a true ambassador of our terroir.

The qualitative cultivation of Perricone began relatively recently, coinciding with the renaissance of Sicilian winemaking in recent decades. This period of renewal has given new impetus to native grape varieties, allowing for the rediscovery of wines like this one—wines that, for far too long, had remained in the shadows, underestimated in relation to their true oenological potential.

Perricone represents one of the hidden gems of Sicily’s ampelographic heritage: a grape variety with unique characteristics, capable of producing wines of remarkable structure and longevity when cultivated with modern techniques and vinified with expertise.

On the nose, it reveals an extraordinary aromatic personality, developing a rare and precious range of spices. The bouquet opens with intense notes of juniper and black pepper, enriched by hints of Mediterranean scrub, rosemary, bay leaf, and balsamic nuances that evoke the spontaneous vegetation of our hills. Warm notes of vanilla, cinnamon, and clove—gifts of aging in French oak—then emerge, blending harmoniously with the grape’s primary aromas.

On the palate, Regnante immediately conveys its noble structure. Classic ripe red fruits—blackcurrant, mulberries, and wild raspberries—stand out, intertwined with penetrating aromas of maraschino cherries and wild berry preserves. The taste structure is impressive yet never overpowering: its tannic foundation is both solid and velvety, the result of careful aging management.

The gastronomic versatility of Regnante makes it an ideal companion for a wide range of dishes. Its tannic structure harmonizes beautifully with the rustic flavors of vegetable soups, creating deeply satisfying pairings. It is particularly well-suited to full-flavored cheeses, such as aged Sicilian Pecorino. It shines alongside braised dishes, roasts, stews, and grilled meats, where its power perfectly balances the richness of the preparations.

Much More Than a Simple Wine

Regnante is far more than just a wine: each bottle captures the essence of the Alcamo hills, the strength of the eagle soaring above them, and the wisdom of those who respect the natural rhythms of the vineyard. It is a wine that speaks of Sicily with pride—never forgetting its roots, yet looking toward the future of fine winemaking.

In every glass of Regnante shines the noblest soul of Sicilian Perricone: powerful yet elegant, deeply expressive of its terroir yet refined, rooted in tradition yet attuned to the contemporary. A wine that truly reigns over the Sicilian wine landscape—and beyond.

The label

The name Regnante arises from a deep and poetic bond with its land of origin. In the hills of the Pattipiccolo estate in Alcamo, where our Perricone grapes are organically cultivated, one can often witness the majestic flight of the eagle—the queen of the sky—watching over and “reigning” above our vineyards.

This magnificent bird has become the natural symbol of our wine: just as the eagle dominates the sky with power and elegance, Regnante embodies the strength and nobility of Sicilian Perricone. The label captures this magical moment: the eagle in flight over the clay hills, rendered in tones that recall the earth itself—a deliberate reference.

The color palette highlights a defining trait of Perricone: its extraordinary ability to thrive on strong, clay-rich soils. It is here that the grape develops its characteristic power and tannic intensity, finding the perfect conditions to root deeply and absorb the minerals that gift the wine its unique complexity and personality.
