Alba Rosea

In the wine landscape, rosé wine does not always have the reputation it deserves, remains relatively unknown, and there are still prejudices or limited knowledge about it, yet these wines have characteristics that make them truly interesting: they are fruity, have a light structure, are meant to be drunk chilled and can accompany an entire meal. However, it proves impossible to frame rosé wines within a single technological definition. They are defined by their color, intermediate between that of red wines and white wines. Their hues span, according to the A.I.S. chart, the range of shades between orange and light red and have been identified in terms of chromatic orientation as: peach blossom, copper, salmon, coral, peony. Color is today the most important marker for these wines: consumers attribute a reassuring, even soothing character to rosé. Rosé is similar to red wine in the type of grape variety used and in the presence of a small quantity of anthocyanins and tannins, but also shares similarities with white wines in terms of freshness, constitution and winemaking technique. There are several methods for making rosé wines, and the choice of one technique or another depends on the ripeness of the grapes, the type of grape variety chosen and the desired organoleptic profile. In all cases, rosé wine requires attention throughout the entire winemaking process in order to obtain a beautiful color and aromas that are both delicate and expressive. Rosé wine is therefore not a single wine, but a method for producing infinite variations. This means that “It’s not easy being a rosé.”

We have taken on yet another challenge. Alba Rosea is born, the first rosé wine from Casa Rallo. A fresh and pleasant wine, made from Perricone grapes, bottled young, in the spring following the harvest. Rallo Azienda Agricola presents Perricone, the ancient Sicilian grape variety in a more youthful and versatile version. With an appealing color, delicate aroma and savory, dry taste. The beautiful coral pink color hints at spring notes of berries, black cherry and flowers. On the palate it is elegant, savory and fresh. It stands out for its soft taste and fruity, floral aroma. It works very well as an aperitif, paired with light appetizers, vegetables, white meats. Also ideal with pizza.
